FUNERAL CELEBRANT SERVICES

A memorable service to honour a remarkable life.

Celebration of life - a memorable service to honour a remarkable life

Memorials & Unveilings - the ceremonial dedication of the memorial marker or headstone at the grave of a loved one

Scattering of ashes - in a meaningful place, like an ocean, river, beach or favourite location

I trained at the Celebrant School under the umbrella of Auckland University of Technology (AUT) in 2006. While my original intention was to become a Marriage Celebrant, I found myself unexpectedly drawn to the funeral module. There was something deeply meaningful about the care, presence, and privilege involved in helping families farewell a loved one.

I officiated my first funeral in December 2011, for my mother-in-law. When the family asked if I would lead her celebration of life, my first instinct was that she was too close to me. After some reflection, I realised what a profound final gift it could be to honour her in this way. It was a deeply moving experience, and following that ceremony, funeral director Barry McIntosh invited me to join the Founders Team.

Since then, I have officiated many funerals and continue to feel that each ceremony is my last gift to the deceased. I aim to create a service that is sincere, relaxed, and heartfelt — one that truly reflects the person being remembered.

I especially value creating a space where family members and friends feel supported to come to the lectern and share their memories, stories, and love. I understand how difficult this time can be, and during our meetings I take care to gently guide families through options for readings, music, and meaningful inclusions, helping to make the process feel a little easier and less overwhelming.

My role is to walk alongside you with compassion, respect, and care, ensuring the ceremony honours your loved one in a way that feels right for you.

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there-I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle falling rain.
